ASAI Health Insurance Solutions

It’s not news that healthcare costs are on the rise. We read about it and hear about it everywhere we go---and we feel it in our own pockets! However, healthcare is critical to the financial stability of you and your family. If you are not insured—properly insured—how would you pay your medical bills if you become ill or injured? Waiting until after developing an uninsurable medical condition is too late—both in premium costs and eligibility!
Many people might feel that they have adequate coverage with their current plan. But do they actually know what the policy includes as well as excludes? Do they know what their policy will pay if something out of the ordinary should happen? Unfortunately, many people have purchased healthcare coverage by price only, not realizing that there are vast differences in coverage available.
When comparing healthcare policies, it is important to look at details. Make sure that the policy you consider is full coverage and all-inclusive. All-inclusive coverage includes unlimited days in a hospital, unlimited prescription coverage, lab work and x-rays, the ability to meet with any doctor or go to any hospital, is national in coverage—not limited to your immediate area-- and has a high lifetime benefit with the choice of lower deductibles and lower out of pocket expenditures for lower costs.
As an example, a typical policy might include a $30 copay for a doctor office visit and routine care, a $10 copay for an eye exam, a $15 copay for generic prescriptions, a $30 copay for name brand prescriptions, and a $5 million lifetime maximum benefit, where you can go to any doctor or hospital. (Coverage and availability is determined by state mandates and can differ).
The Medicare Act of 2003 has also added a valuable new benefit that many employers and employees may want to add. It’s called the Health Savings Account, or H.S.A. and is a healthcare payment account that rolls forward, is portable and can be offered through a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan. It is an IRA-type account that is established by an eligible individual to pay for qualified healthcare expenses. Because the participant owns the account, the H.S.A. remains with the account beneficiary when changing jobs or health insurance coverage. The plan, however, must be a true high deductible, with no copays. Payments from an HSA may be made on a tax-free basis for qualified medical expenses up to allowable limits.
When purchasing health insurance, it is also vitally important that you work with someone who specializes in that field. Just as you wouldn’t go to a dentist to treat your heart, someone who normally sells auto insurance is not going to be familiar with the intricacies required in health. The ASAI, your association, is concerned for you, its members, and wants you to work with the best. That is why they have aligned themselves with Association Health Programs, experienced, professional people, who specialize in healthcare, life and long term care. It is the job of these professionals to give you the very best available in coverage, with the very best cost, from only top, A-rated companies. It is their job to take out the insurance hassles for the ASAI membership, with a highly trained staff whose only responsibility is serving you. Led by Stuart Pase, President, Health Specialist and a Certified Senior Advisor, Association Health Programs will make sure you have the best because you are the best! Our Aging Population: ASAI Helping Its Membership

We live in an incredible age. With the constant development of new drugs and new techniques to enhance our health, people are living significantly longer lives than ever before. But the benefit of increased years brings with it other challenges that we must face. Longer life means stretching the retirement dollar we first planned. And the longer we live, the far more likely it will become that we will need help in meeting the needs of everyday life.
According to Americans for LTC Security, over 50 percent of all Americans will need long term care in their lifetime! In an article in The Wall Street Journal it was observed, “For a couple turning 65, there is a 75 percent chance that one of them will need long term care.” These are profound statistics, but what exactly are they referring to? What is long-term care?
When long term care is mentioned, most people conjure up a picture of someone bedridden, hooked up to monitors, or an elderly person sitting in a wheelchair, unresponsive to his or her surroundings. Though, these images may sadly have an element of truth in them, long term care is much broader and encompasses the ability of a person to perform the basic activities of daily life. It also involves who may be needed to assist with those activities and where this assistance may be given!
True, acute cases of long-term care can be given in a nursing home. But it can also include care given in your home, care provided in an assisted living facility, adult day care and hospice care. In fact, home care and assisted living care is far more frequently chosen than nursing home care
With so many options available for care, and with so many different geographic locations, getting a fix on long term care costs is challenging. Despite these obstacles, there are some frightening projections for future long-term care needs. In the year 2030, for example, the average annual cost for a nursing home is expected to be at least $190,000 per year; assisted living facilities--$109,000! The average life expectancy in a nursing home is 2.5 years!
Long term care can, and does, exhaust the accumulated assets of those individuals requiring it. So how can a person protect themselves and their assets now against future medical and care expenditures? With the purchase of long term care insurance!
Purchasing long term care insurance early gives you the advantage of reduced premium costs, removing the possibility of not being able to purchase the insurance due to the development of uninsurable risks in the future, and having the insurance in place if and when the need presents itself earlier than expected.
There are, however, a vast number of policies on the market, with great differences in coverage and cost. It takes a truly qualified person, preferably a certified senior advisor (CSA), to be able to point out the differences and explain the considerations you need to make when buying long-term care insurance. The ASAI has aligned itself with such a person for its membership. Stuart Pase, of Association Health Programs, is a CSA and would be most happy to speak with you and explain the benefits and necessary riders to protect yourself and your family. He can also apprise you of the savings ASAI members are entitled! ASAI has access to all top-rated long-term care companies at affordable association rates.
Today’s generation and future generations bear a far greater financial burden resulting from old age. Those challenges must be planned for now. Call the ASAI Benefits Program for the information and protection you need regarding long-term care, life and health insurance.
